Cool Logistics: LaMiLo profiled at global conference
24 – 26 September 2013
The Irish Exporters Association (IEA) promoted Weastflows at the Cool Logistics Global Conference which took place aboard the S.S. Rotterdam in Rotterdam over 24 to 26 September 2013.
The Cool Logistics Conference has been held for each of the last five years and aims to explore the problems and find solutions within the supply chain for goods requiring temperature control. It had a particular focus on door to door supply chain for goods using all freight transport modes.
The IEA presentation looked at the pharmaceuticals sector and on the development of short sea supply chains. The crucial issues identified included temperature controls and other security for goods that are shipped on an intermodal basis. These concerns apply equally for products being shipped within North West Europe and those shipped overseas. It also gave an opportunity to highlight the activity that is being undertaken across LaMiLo project and also profile the Weastflows
Around 250 organisations involved in the import and export of goods – mainly food and pharmaceuticals – from across Europe. Other representatives included ports such as Rotterdam, Antwerp, DP World Ports, APM Terminals, and Brussels Airport. Freight Forwarders in attendance included DHL, K & N and Hellmann and shipping lines were represented by Stena Ro-Ro, Maersk, Hamburg Sud and Samskip (Coolboxx).
