Making progress in Maastricht

15-16 April 2013

The LaMiLo partners met for the second project partnership meeting in Maastricht in April 2013. Thirteen partners from seven North West European countries attended the meeting to discuss updates on project delivery and agree plans for the next phase of the project.

The meeting was hosted by Eco2City, who took the partners on a site visit to their Binnenstadservice, to understand how deliveries to shops and consumers are being consolidated by Eco2City in the Netherlands. The site visit took partners on a cycling tour of Maastricht, to an out-of-town consolidation centre where a delivery of goods was received and consolidated. The partners then followed a delivery from the consolidation centre to a retailer in the centre of Maastricht. The site visit highlighted the importance of planning and structuring urban deliveries to avoid excessive traffic flows in small, busy town centres.

The next partnership meeting will take place in September 2013 in London, where partners and stakeholders will be taken on site visits to both the London Euston demonstrator and to London Borough of Camden’s consolidation centre for the public sector.
